Mirko Bartl is part of the squad of young managers at the Öschberghof. He trained there, then expanded his professional horizon in Frankfurt and on a luxury liner on the sea. Now, he is back as part of management with two others procurators heading the hotel with its 230 staff members.
If you are into golfing, Öschberghof is the place to be. How do you make a stay at your hotel unforgettable for all guests, not just golfers?
Our peaceful location in the middle of the Black Forest gives our hotel a classic resort character: Here, we have everything you want and need for a few days of relaxation. Our golf course is extremely attractive to our guests, and non-golfers enjoy our hotel because they can really wind down here. To make our offering even more interesting for our guests, we are currently expanding our 2,500 m² wellness area, which will open in fall 2017.
What offers can your guests look forward to after the wellness area has been completed?
With a new concept we will tailor the offering even more to the individual needs of our guests. In addition to our large indoor swimming pool, different saunas, and lots of space to lie down, the expansion will add a women-only spa, and new areas to rest and relax, as well as to invigorate and activate the body. In the Asia area, traditional Japanese and Chinese treatments will be offered. This is all rounded off by a heated outdoor saltwater pool and a 140 m² fitness room. In the future, all of our guests will find just what they and their bodies need!
Besides the spa, will other areas in the hotel undergo expansion?
Our entire resort is getting a facelift. The golf course is being extended to 45 holes, the number of rooms upped to 125, and a new restaurant landscape and conference center featuring a 400 m² banquet hall will be added. But our goal isn’t just to grow – but to become even more individual while offering the same high quality. The delight of our guests will still be the focus of our services even with double the number of rooms.
What tourist attractions in and around Donaueschingen are must-sees?
One great attraction is the Donauquelle, the source of the Danube. In the summer, you can grab an ice cream at Eiscafé Vivaldi at the Donaueschingen market square. The Art Plus museum features changing exhibits, and you can take a tour of the Fürstenberg brewery.
What makes the Öschberghof an excellent choice for corporate events?
Thanks to the hotel’s peaceful location, participants can concentrate fully on the event without any interruptions in our current conference chalets. With the remodeling of our hotel, which will be finalized in summer 2018, we created this original, extremely comfortable alternative to our previous conference rooms, allowing us to provide the right environment for all conference participants until early May 2017. Our three restaurants and the golf course are ideal for winding down after a day of talks and discussions. From mid-May 2017 to August 2018, we will not be able to offer any conferences due to the renovations – but it will be worth the wait.
